Rolex presented a new version of the Rolex Deepsea series replica watches with a two-colour gradient dial, from brilliant blue to black, reminiscent of the ocean’s twilight zone where the last trickle of light from the surface disappears into the dark black of the abyss. Rolex called this dial “D-Blue”.
The 2014 version of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea copy watches (ref. 116660) is a tribute to James Cameron’s historic solo dive to the Mariana trench, the deepest point in the ocean, which he reached on 26 March 2012 piloting the Deepsea Challenger, a 7.3 metres (24 ft) deep-diving submersible.
The Deepsea Challenger submersible was equipped with high-definition 3-D cameras used to capture the first-ever high-resolution images of this last frontier. James Cameron realised a documentary film following the Deepsea Challenge adventure which was premiered on Monday 4 August 2014 in the Hall of Ocean Life at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
The brilliant green of the “DEEPSEA” marking on the dial is the same colour of James Cameron’s submersible as it is perceived underwater.
Waterproof Rolex fake watches to an extreme depth of 3,900 metres (12,800 feet), the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea maintains all the features of the black dial version presented in 2008.
